Product Description

The Controlled Pressure Release (CPRII) Manhole Cover uses a patented restraint system to keep the manhole cover from dislodging during an underground electrical utility vault explosion. As underground electrical utility infrastructure has aged, underground vault explosions have become more common, especially in larger cities. When a traditional manhole cover is used, the explosion can send the cover 100 or more feet in the air. The Neenah Foundry CPRII Manhole Covers stay restrained while allowing the pressure in the vault to dissipate. The restraint system requires no special tools and automatically engages when the cover is installed on top of the manhole. This product significantly reduces the potential for property damage, injury and death. This product has been rigorously tested by the Electric Power Research Institute in Lenox, MA.

Utility companies from New York City to Los Angeles have installed thousands of CPRII Manhole Covers and have reduced their risk for damage or injury due to manhole covers flying due to underground vault explosions.
