WJJQ: Several Local Products Nominated for ‘Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin’ Annual Vote

A handful of local products are among those vying to become the ‘Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin’ 2024.

Over the past few weeks, Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce has been taking nominations for the annual contest held each fall. Around 130 products were selected for the preliminary round. Via public vote, those nominees will be quickly narrowed to sixteen and placed into a bracket-style tournament.

There were a half dozen local companies who made the cut, including some past participants. That includes 7Fifteen Motorworks in Three Lakes, which makes custom and vintage vehicles.

A pair of Minocqua food products made the cut, the snacks from Minocqua Popcorn and Puffs and a ‘Baled Hay’ cabbage relish produced by Pleasant’s Best Sauces. Merrill’s got a pair of nominees as well…Thorogood work boots reached the final four last year and the metal Christmas wreath rings made by Mitchell Metal Products. And in Phillips, BW Paper System’s twin box slitter.

The local nominees will face off against some well-known Wisconsin brands including Bobcat, Fincantieri, Haribo, John Deere, and Ocean Spray.

Voting begins this week.
